Interviewing all day

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Most of today and tomorrow is going to be spent interviewing. We are using Skype and I have about 30 people booked in to assess. I’m currently looking for 2 full-time people. I’m looking for outsourced people, so they can be based anywhere.

A Virtual Assistant / SEO expert and a

Web developer/PHP programmer

it’s interesting we have had people apply from all over the world, Kazakhstan, Philippines, India and America, Malaysia etc

what I find interesting is two things.Number one how well qualified most of the people who have applied are, but also how many miss their allocated appointment time. It’s almost as if they can’t quite plan to get it right.

It will be interesting to see who we end up inviting to join our wonderful family group :-)

I am really looking forward to this coming weekend

Listening skills are a very important part of the communication process

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Listening skills are a very important part of the communication process making them essential for your job and education. If you can improve your listening skills by following some of the strategies outlined below you. You will be able to see a major improvement in your day to day life. For example: if you are a student you should see improved grades due to your being able to retain more information. If you are in work don’t be surprised if you get noticed for the improvement in your performance.

So here we go, these are just a few very effective strategies you should try. Focus on content, not the delivery. Have you ever counted the number of times a teacher or boss clears his/her throat in a twenty minute period? If so, then guess what, you weren’t focusing on content. You also need to use the gap between the rate of speech and your rate of thought. You are able to think faster than the lecturer can talk. That’s one reason your mind may tend to wonder off on to other things. Avoiding emotional involvement is also a major part of listening skills. When you are too emotionally involved in listening, you will tend to hear what you want to hear not what is actually being said. Try to remain objective and open minded and maintain eye contact with the person you are listening to. Of course if you are using your listening skills for school then you will need to look at your notes to write down the key points, but eye contact keeps you focused on the job at hand and keeps you involved with the instructors content. All the above strategies will help you keep your mind occupied and focused on what is being said. You can actually begin to anticipate what the person speaking is going to say as a way to keep your mind from straying. Your mind does have the capacity to listen, think, write and ponder at the same time, but it does take practice.

Training to be a coach

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

It’s been an exciting week here at Noble Manhattan. I’ve been asked by several of the people I’ve encountered  this week to share information about what is involved in training to be a life coach. The steps to become a coach are vital so have been designed to provide you with all of the knowledge, expertise, and support that you will need to help others achieve their highest potential and reach their goals.

The programme provided to gain certification as a coach is divided into two main sections. Section 1 provides you with the knowledge and training you need to begin a professional career as a coach. The training includes one on one training, e-courses, lectures and real-life practice which will provide you with the foundation and skills that will give you an excellent foundation and the confidence to become successful. Section 2 will expand on the knowledge and skills you developed previously and is a three day residential programme with each day packed with learning opportunities which will help you to expand your range of expertise with your coaching clients.

There is more to training to be a coach than just the coursework and certification though. Nobel Manhattan is dedicated to providing each individual training to be a coach with all of the support they need to be successful. To that end, once an individual joins the programme they become part of an information network which includes becoming a member of the Coaching E-group where individuals can talk about issues, ideas, or receive support from other coaches;  Receive weekly email updates bringing the latest information regarding coaching practices; Have a personal support coach who will help you with any challenges that may arise during your coaching experience; Monthly coaching support groups; and, much more.  Once a person becomes a coach there are even more tools made available to assist them in being successful.

As I often tell people who ask, training to be a coach is not something that is done on a whim. It takes dedication and effort. But, this effort is rewarded endlessly by the number of people that are aided by the coaches who are there are form. This rewarding profession is available to anyone who wishes to pursue training to be a coach.

I ran into a group recently that was interested in why having a coach is so important and there was a lot of discussion about what a life coach actually does and how the whole process works. After thinking about this discussion, I thought that many of you reading this might want to share some information about the benefits of having a coach, or being a coach so decided that today we would talk a little about the programs that Noble Manhattan offer in our life coaching programs.

It is sometimes very difficult to implement change in our lives. We can create any number of excuses for avoiding change and miss taking hold of opportunities that present themselves as challenges. Achieving our goals may always seem just out of reach when we are trying to look for ways to do something new and different with our lives.

Having a coach provides us with the support that we need to create success in every facet of our lives. In the boardroom we are provided numerous tools and training for achieving goals and meeting objectives by our coach who is readily available to assist with any questions or concerns.  In our relationships there are suddenly fewer obstacles in creating the kind of life that we want to with our friends, families, and loved ones. Having a coach to assist by providing the tools that we need to succeed.

As part of the coaching team at Noble Manhattan we are given a grand opportunity to help people experience meaningful change in every part of their lives and celebrate their success with them.  Coaching meetings are held on a weekly basis with participants learning new techniques and strategies to become more successful. Whether you are looking for a coach, or wish to become a part of the coaching team of Noble Manhattan, the team and I will be happy to discuss any questions you may have.

People lack perception

The fact that people lack perception and discernment. It means that they are unable to tell good from bad, right from wrong, and very  importantly truth from lies.

Which means they end up making the wrong decisions

ECI announces operations in 74 countries

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

The European Coaching Institute, one of Europe’s leading accreditation organizations for coaches and coach-training providers, is proud to announce it is currently operating in 74 countries. Announcing this in a press release Mr. Gerard O’Donovan the current CEO of the ECI said that the Institute’s main objective is to continue to expand and promote best coaching practice.  As an internationally focused coaching institute, the ECI strives to raise awareness of professional coaching standards by developing contacts in new countries where the services can be launched. Mr. O’Donovan said that the ECI will bring the same quality of life coach training to every country where it operates.

The initial coaching courses will be provided by coaches from the headquarters in London.  These highly experienced and skilled coaches will help to create a team of trained coaches in each new country, who can take the coaching activities forward. This model has been successfully adopted by the ECI in many countries.  Mr. O’Donovan said that coaches and other personnel from the Institute’s headquarters often visit the ECI centers in different countries to ensure that the high professional standards of the ECI are maintained.

The ECI is committed to getting the profession of coaching accredited and regulated at national and international levels. To achieve this objective it has set-up standards and accreditation levels which will be maintained across all centers. There are five levels of accreditations which can be attained by the coaches in different stages. The training materials available for each accreditation level are certified by the Institute’s headquarters in London.

In countries where English is not the primary language, the ECI has translated the training material into the local language. This has benefited many people who are interested in life coaching but not fluent in English. This step has been appreciated in many countries, such as Poland and Romania.

The ECI has also created an international register of accredited coaches. This database is open to clients who are interested in accessing the coaching services of ECI accredited coaches. Mr. O’Donovan said that this will help life coaches to easily find assignments and also help organizations quickly find high quality life coaches for training purposes.

Mr. O’Donovan further said that in this current economic climate where people are working under stress, life coaching helps them to excel in the difficult conditions. He said that demand for life coaches has seen an upward climb in recent times. The ECI is putting extra resources across all the 74 countries where it operates to fulfill the additional demand, including new partnerships with local companies.  The ECI will continue with the same model of expansion wherever it launches new operations.  Mr. O’Donovan said that local partners are playing a major role in helping the ECI launch operations. Most of the partners are local companies who have prior experience in life coaching and consulting. This is helping them to quickly adopt the practices and standards of the ECI and implement it in the operations.

Organizations and individuals are realizing the benefits of life coaching and enrolling themselves on courses to become coaches or accessing the services of life coaches.

Snow everywhere !

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Well, what a surprise this morning !.  Woke up to find everywhere covered with a white and deep blanket of snow.  All of the local schools have been closed, so my children are enjoying a day off.  My poor wife :-( )  some of the staff were not able to make it into work today.  Roads closed etc. it is lovely to look out over the harbour and see everything covered in snow.  It’s very unusual for Weymouth, we don’t normally get it here.

At least I should be able to get on with quite a bit of work today in the office, without too many interruptions.  Our newsletter went out last night, and I can see that there have been many many e-mail replies to many of the offers. Today I will have to plan my next trips to Poland and Romania and am looking forward to meeting the ECI country heads.

Emma, my second-in-command, has organised a night out tonight for everyone in the office.  Apparently we are all going to play bingo!! I haven’t played bingo about 20 years.  I think I’m going to make a complete fool of myself

Ongoing online branding programme

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Well, as part of my online branding programme.  I have submitted another five articles today to a number of article submission cites.  I have also linked twitter to my blog (I like the way that looks) and have also linked Ezinearticles both to my blog and to three of my social networking sites, face book, my space , linkedin.  All in all things are going according to plan.  On the one article submission side alone, I have had over 1900 hits in the last three months.  I think that’s quite good (isn’t it?) still a lot more to do. I find am spending approximately one hour a day on this project .
