Here, in this blog I am laying out just a few of the simple and straightforward steps that all coaches and student coaches need to engage in if they want to start building a coaching practice that will attract the right type of clients for them.

Public Speaking

The way to attract great life coaching clients is the same as used to attract clients in any other similar service industry, whether it be Reiki, NLP,Hypnotherapy, or Emotional Freedom Technique. By using local marketing techniques, creating a website, offering free public lectures, writing articles, and setting up radio interviews and teleseminars you will quickly be able to start earning a good and increasing income from your life coaching business.

Use Local Marketing Techniques

Although many coaches would like to build a national and of course an international client base we often make the mistake of forgetting to market on our own doorstep.

It is possible to do a large amount of local marketing by going to networking events, handing out business cards, using posters in public places, putting up notices in local libraries, shops, cafes etc and making cold calls. In fact most of these activities are completely free and start to get you very well know in your local area rather quickly .

Actually, it’s silly not to engage in all of these .

Create A Website

One of the better ways of stimulating a practice is to take full advantage of the Internet. Getting clients can be fun and profitable online. What’s more, you can easily start earning a great income from online clients because you can offer digital products as part of backend sales, as well of generating affiliate commissions from products you recommend.

However rather than a typical or traditional website I would recommend a blog site using WordPress. In my humble experience it is more effective, usable, search engine friendly and overall easier to change .you don’t need any IT experts to help you .

Offer Free Public Lectures

Public speaking may be one of the fastest ways of getting people to know, like, and trust you. By offering your local community, institutions, and organizations free speaking services, you will be able to quickly launch a successful coaching business. Churches, for example, would welcome someone who is going to give an interesting talk about self-improvement. Once people attend your events, give them your website address, so that they can continue to interact with you. Make sure that you offer even more free stuff on your website so that they feel motivated to go home and download your free digital offers.
Marketing can be as simple as going around to various groups and asking them if they would like to have some free lectures on a self-improvement topic. You can select from a huge variety of topics that people find fascinating: how to set goals, how to quit procrastinating, how to have great relationships, how to earn more money, or how to be highly motivated and successful in following your passions.

There are numerous ways to find these groups, ranging from visiting churches and community centres to using newspapers, magazines, and directories to locate them.

Since you are offering your services free, it will not be difficult to get a number of speaking engagements. If you are unsure about your speaking skills, then begin by taking a class on public speaking or joining a public speaking club. Toastmasters for example is highly thought of.

Write Articles

The next best way of getting clients is to write articles. You should write articles for local magazines and newspapers as well as articles for article directories on the Internet. By writing articles for local sources, people who seldom use the Internet will get to know about your life coaching practice. By writing articles for the Internet, you will drive a stream of targeted traffic to your website (blog site). In addition, the search engines will rank you higher in their index pages because you will have more backlinks pointing to your website.
Again, offer to do this for free. At the bottom of your article, you will get a small author’s resource box. This is where you can mention your contact information and how you are able to assist people to achieve a higher quality of life.

Radio Shows and Teleseminar

You can get a radio engagement by calling around local radio stations and finding out if they are willing to do an interview with you about how people can improve their lives. Again, you should not directly pitch your coaching services, but instead try to educate people about some aspect of self-improvement. For instance, you can tell the radio host that you want to talk about how people can set impossible goals and hit them every time. Mention how you have a series of strategies to make people goal achieving wizards and you want to share it with the world.

Teleseminars are even easier to set up. Decide on your topic and arrange the time with a conference calling service. If you have less than 99 callers, you may even be able to get the service free. Use your website ( blogsite) to advertise the teleseminar. If you have a list of subscribers, then email them the date and time.

I hope this has been useful as a simple overview of very cost effective and easy to implement strategies.

Warmest

Gerard

Ideas in Action :
The following was taken from an article written by Uday Arur
Barriers to Success – Strategy or Execution?

Recent studies have shown that organizations that have gone through the effort of developing a written strategy fail miserably at execution. According to Paul Niven in his book “The Balanced Scorecard”:

Only 10% of organizations execute their strategy

Only 25% of managers and executives have incentives linked to strategy

85% of executive teams spend less than 1 hour per month on strategy

60% of organizations don’t link budgets to strategy

Who will our customers be? How many will we have?

Those are pretty dismal facts about commitment and results as they pertain to strategy execution.

However, Roger Martin (The Execution Trap, HBR July-August 2010), believes that the idea that a strategy can be brilliant and execution poor is flawed.

To Martin, the flaw stems from the common metaphor used to illustrate the opposing views regarding strategy execution – the one where the organizations “thinkers” come up with the strategy and doers “execute”.

Instead, Martin proposes an alternative metaphor, which he believes can correct the flaw in the thinking. He compares the organization with a white-water river, where choices cascade down from upstream to downstream in the organizational hierarchy. This approach would enable more freedom to adapt decisions to the specifics of the environment in which each organizational level operates, all within a larger framework and direction given by the strategy (the river). Unlike the strategy-execution approach, in which leaders dictate and set strategies and expect subordinates to mechanically follow, the choice-cascade model has senior managers empower workers by allowing them to use their best judgement in the scenarios they encounter. But, says Martin, to effectively enable those individual choices, a choice maker “upstream” must set the context for the downstream.

Martin suggests four ways the choice maker can help his employees make better choices:

Explain the choice that has been made and the rationale for it

Explicitly identify the next downstream choice

Assist in making the downstream choice as needed

Commit to revisiting and modifying the choice based on downstream feedback

Because downstream choices are valued and feedback is encouraged, the framework enables employees to send information back upstream, improving the knowledge base of decision makers higher up and enabling everyone in the organization to make better choices. And when workers are made to feel empowered, the whole organization wins!

The first metaphor, which treats strategy separate from execution, can be associated with a mechanistic, command and control thinking, whereas, what Martin seems to suggest is an organic, systems thinking with an interrelated, integrated view of strategy.

Which side are you on?

Last night I was interviewed by Denis Rancourt who is a well-known scientist, lecturer and radio host.
He runs a wonderful radio station details of which are on this blog site

http://trainradio.blogspot.com/

He interviewed me for approximately one hour on Canadian radio. We discussed mainly life coaching and corporate coaching, how it works and the impact it can have on corporate culture.
If you would like to hear and see Denis then he has done a very interesting and slightly controversial video which can be seen here on you Tube

Personally I agree with everything he says.

My interview will be available shortly,

Eynsham Hall is going to be the spectacular backdrop for our Residential Coach Training Programme on Thursday

Eynsham Hall is going to be the spectacular backdrop for our Residential Coach Training Programme on Thursday and I am thrilled to be participating in this exciting event. We’ve got over 30 students attending from all over the world and will have eight staff members on hand to facilitate. That’s a high ratio I know, but something that we always do at Noble Manhattan. Dawn Campbell, head of our Business for Coaches Division and Yasmin Mukadam, international head of our Coaching Tools Division will be there too and I’m looking forward to spending time with them to discuss our exciting plans for the future.

You probably heard about the new initiative we launched a few weeks ago to help all of our students and coaches worldwide build a financially strong coaching practice. Well, “Tidal Wave of Clients” has been seeing some amazing success! In fact, we now have many coaches receiving daily requests for information regarding their coaching services jumping tremendously! This program has proven so successful that we are opening it up to any coach or any student worldwide, no matter where they trained, as part of our commitment to help the coaching community. I’d love to have you be a part of this great experience, so visit the “Tidal Wave of Clients” site now and get started!

When we all got together at Noble Manhattan we realized that we are growing faster than expected throughout the world. This creates a challenge for us and an opportunity for our friends who are looking for a way to be a part of a wonderful and growing partnership. I’m inviting you to visit our site to get more information on how you can become a member of the Noble Manhattan family. We are now expanding to many countries throughout the world and it would be great fun to take advantage of the opportunity to become a part of the Nobel Manhattan family and start a lucrative career at the same time.
